Cold War Modern: Design 1945-70 Exhibition

This exhibition, conceived and co-curated by Professors David Crowley and Jane Pavitt, was part of a 12-year series of major shows dedicated to 20th-century design at the V&A Museum, London. It explored the influence of cold war politics and anxieties on modernist art, design and architecture after 1945. It featured approximately 300 objects including works of art, design, photography, film and architecture from 20 countries.
In 2009, the exhibition toured to MART Rovereto and the National Gallery, Vilnius, where it was the centrepiece of the European Capital of Culture 2009 programme. An estimated 183,000 people saw the exhibition in its three venues.
